Caprese K-Bobs

Ingredients

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Mozzarella cheese, fresh, cubed
  • Basil leaves, fresh
  • Toothpicks
  • Lettuce, iceberg
  • Styrofoam 1/2 ball (or tall cone for the holidays to resemble pine tree)
  • Glue gun
  • Aged balsamic vinegar

Method

Step 1

Prepare foundation by gluing styrofoam to plate. Have large pieces of lettuce ready.

Step 2

Skewer one tomato, cube of cheese and leaf of basil onto a toothpick. Poke skewer, tomato end in first, into styrofoam while holding lettuce between it and the tomato. The end result will be the k-bobs holding the lettuce on to cover the styrofoam. Very cute result and it is much more interesting than just placing the k-bobs on a flat plate. Get some height! Optional - serve balsamic vinegar alongside for guests to drizzle onto their individual skewers.
