Ingredients

  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Mozzarella cheese, fresh, cubed
  • Basil leaves, fresh
  • Toothpicks
  • Lettuce, iceberg
  • Styrofoam 1/2 ball (or tall cone for the holidays to resemble pine tree)
  • Glue gun
  • Aged balsamic vinegar

Method

Step 1

Prepare foundation by gluing styrofoam to plate. Have large pieces of lettuce ready.

Step 2

Skewer one tomato, cube of cheese and leaf of basil onto a toothpick. Poke skewer, tomato end in first, into styrofoam while holding lettuce between it and the tomato. The end result will be the kabobs holding the lettuce on to cover the styrofoam. Very cute result and it is much more interesting than just placing the kabobs on a flat plate. Get some height! Optional - serve balsamic vinegar alongside for guests to drizzle onto their individual skewers.
