Colorado Book Festival at the Denver Public Library was a Success

Hundreds of bookworms came to meet Colorado authors, buy books and attend author panels throughout the day at the second annual Colorado Book Festival. Every literary genre imaginable was present at this eclectic event. I was asked to join a Cookbook panel, which I happily accepted.  Eliza Cross, JL Fields and I shared how we began writing cookbooks and what steps one might take to get there. Our backgrounds are so diverse with such different approaches to cooking that we complemented each other nicely. We had a nice crowd of foodies and future cookbook authors asking fantastic questions and laughing at our stories about our paths to publication. The hour flew by with the easy banter and engaging feedback we received. It was a fun afternoon!

This event made me think about how I was recently contacted by a local wine club. They are passionately interested in writing a cookbook using their years of recipes while pairing wines with them. Happily I met with this lovely group, enjoyed wine and gave them a sheet of ideas and websites that I have discovered along the way. There was no reason to make them reinvent the wheel when I could offer helpful ideas. I find it fascinating how many foodies out there would love to write a cookbook but are unsure how to make it come together. Attending events like the one Saturday is a great way to start and get the ideas simmering!
