Goodbye 2020 and Welcome 2021!

I know I am not the only one happy to see this year come to an end. Let’s escort 2020 out with a proper celebration of fantastic food. Then the first brunch of the New Year must include a Mimosa with a Frittata. Please don’t let the Frittata directions scare you off as it is merely a guide. Basically you use eggs, cheese and any leftover vegetables and chorizo, if available. I’ve even used the soy chorizo for vegetarian guests and it worked!

I am getting ahead of my skis here and need to back up and share some small plate ideas for New Year’s Eve. Start now and December 31 will be fun and relaxing. A recipe in the top ten requests is my Bacon-Wrapped Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates, easy to make ahead. Another crowd-pleaser is Cranberry Crostini, an award-winning recipe. Cranberries, blue cheese, walnuts….enjoy! Let’s get another crostini going with some seafood, Smoked Salmon Bruschetta. If you love salmon, lemon, capers and dill, this one is for you. Delish!

A favorite recipe of mine (and anyone who has eaten it) is Brie Quesadillas with Peach Salsa. We have even brought this to Red Rocks for tailgating before a concert. Keep warm and it is great. Another crowd favorite is Stuffed Roasted Mini Peppers. Creamy cheeses and roasted garlic tucked inside miniature roasted peppers will be a guaranteed hit.

And last but not least, dessert! Make these Cookies and Cream Truffles ahead and have one less thing to do at the last minute. They are really easy and tasty.

Have a Happy New Year as we bid this year adieu and look forward to 2020 being hindsight!
